MICR Check Placement Gauge The placement gauge is a great tool for check layout and troubleshooting checks that are not scanning correctly. We use it daily. The most common problem we see is bad placement of the MICR line or extraneous detail in the MICR band. Most commonly a signature dips into the bottom 5/8" (the micr band) and because the signature is in MICR toner, causes the document to reject. A placement gauge works wonders.
